hi, i have been with Crohns for about 4 years now and, recently i been with crohns attacks for about 4 months, i dont have insurance, every time i go to bathroom it hurts, really bad, im really scare i am afraid to eat, i lost 50 pounds in s couple month, please someone help

Hi vpekarek and welcome to Healingwell. Maybe you could ask your doc for sample meds to help or maybe you could contact the patient prescription assistance program to see if you could get some meds to help you out. I am sorry you are suffering so. Hugs!

I'm so sorry for that hun. I know the pain- we all do on here but to nor have ins. that is so hard. I will say a prayer that it will change for you!

You could temporarily try going to an all liquid diet - Boost or Ensure for example - to see if that helps while you figure out how to get help. If your community has a free or low cost health clinic, you should go talk to them. They are used to helping people with no health insurance get the care they need.

Assuming you live in the US, you can go to your local welfare of social services office and apply for Medicaid. Even if you have income, you may qualify for help. Take along any medical bills you have from the last several months so they can see how much you are spending for medical care.

I hope you get into remission quickly and are able to find health coverage that you can afford soon.

I was in the exact same dilemma as you a couple of years ago. It is so hard to be financially strapped, no medical insurance, and have a chronic disease. As rlsnights said, try and find a free or low cost clinic in your area. let them know you have crohn's and are flaring. Tell them your financial situation. Ask them if they would give you a script for prednisone with refills, and a schedule for tapering off. Hopefully this will get you into remission for at least a short period of time where your situation may change and you could then get health insurance.

This isn NOT the ideal situation, you should be on maintenence meds once your flare is under control. As I said, I have been where you are at, and the stress of knowing you are sick and not able to get proper medical care made me flare even more. Good luck to you!
