OT first my son with RA, now my little grandson has Asthma!

Dunny, I am so sorry to hear about your grandson having asthma at such a young age, (and sad that your son has RA). Too much for a grandma to have to worry about and not fair! My son's asthma started when he was four with a moderate to severe attack--that was a shock and scary. It gets a little easier as medication gets figured out and you find out how to monitor the situation better with a peak flow meter. It helps when they get old enough to say how they are feeling so you can judge how to treat an episode, so in general for us it has gotten better. Our son is 14 and keeps a rescue medicine in his school bag but doesn't need it often. Also, we keep a bottle of pred in our vacation bag as our son's asthma prefers to strike on weekends when the dr's office is closed and when we go off somewhere. Hope your grandson will grow out of his asthma quickly, and that your son will be feeling better as well.

Hi Vicky! It sucks that your grandchildren have these diseases. BUT, you know that they will pull through and they will learn to live with it, and hopefully go on to live wonderful lives. Don't let these diagnoses bring you down. Hopefully within their lifetime, there will be medical advances enough to make their lives so much better than ours. Keep the faith that their lives will be better, because for one, you are there to guide them, and for another, because we are constantly making progress with medications.

Children are very resilient. They will overcome. It's harder for us to watch them go through it. It certainly felt that way when my niece broke her arm. So, remember that, and I hope they will not have a rough go of it.

BTW, I hope you are feeling much much better.

Oh Vicky, I'm so sorry to hear you are still struggling so! I was hoping you were trending better each and every day. Less than 10 days until your specialist appt - just hang in there!

I know you've had a tough go with crohn's and fibro and pancreatitis and lupus - but remember, that does not mean your grandkids will go through as much difficulty as you have. Hold on to that. It doesn't have to be as rough a road for them.

I know, today has been rough on the boards. But again, today is not the norm. It definitely flustered me as well. I don't like a lot of drama, and there's been plenty of that today on the boards. I think drama puts people more on edge, and that's the last thing any of us need.

Good times are yet ahead Vicky. I promise. Now just hang in there, and get better! And that's an order :-D
