Monday tlc

Bleurgh.

Decided to be sensible and cancel today's appointments so I could sit in bed and rest, and not share this bug with anybody. I'd like to throttle the person who gave it to me!

Basic tlcs for today:

* put seed sprouting dates in housekeeping journal
* read, rest, listen to the radio, etc
* shower and dress in something comfortable
* put away clothes on desk in bedroom
* do a few dishes (I wish I had a dishwasher!)
* do some really gentle exercise

Optional extras:

* wash & soak whites??? maybe?
* try to work out what's attacking fuchsia, and work out what I can do about it
* put magazines on shelf in bedroom
* tlc for hands or feet?
* order tlc stuff?
* maybe scribble a few notes or emails to people... we'll see.
* try new patience games and put good ones in my hospital folder

I am moving into my 15th day of antibiotics myself.  I truly didn't realize how bad this infection was or how bad I was feeling until I got on these just prior to my last remi.  By that time I for sure knew I was sick with something and now I realize how long I have been fighting it and losing.......having said all that Ivy, dear......get your buns to the doctor and don't wait on this!

That's really unfortunate about the shifts, Becky. I'm sorry. about how much do you expect the hospital bill to be? And it's terrible that your Mum has your pain meds! Argh! I hope you can manage without them... :-(

Ooooh, mdf, you sound so unwell, and so fed up with it. How long will it be until you can stop taking the antibiotics? It sounds as though they may be doing the trick, though; are they?

I'm a bit worried on your behalf now. I didn't realise your job had that few hours. In fact I thought it was full-time. I know it's not really your employer's problem, but how do they expect their employees to pay their bills when they leave them stranded without work for an entire month?

Can you go back to Dominoes for a few weeks, as Ivy suggested?

Also, the pain must be aggravating. I don't wish to alarm you, but I hope the obstruction was properly cleared. I don't see how it couldn't have been, but still... Anyway, wish I could help more practically, but... *hugs* :-/

@Ivy - ah, that sucks. Can't knock out a cupboard or two? You are laudable; trust me. I'd be eating ready meals or cereal or toasted ham and cheese sandwiches for dinner every day if I was in your shoes, most likely. (I did cook dinner tonight, though - on a cooking roll at the moment! It was cod and green snap peas/green beans/pak choi baked in foil in the oven with a chinese type dressing. The recipe writer's estimated cooking time of 5-10 minutes turned out to be absurdly overoptimistic, as 50 minutes later, the fish was still not done. I was steaming way more than the fish, I can tell you.) PS: If dairy makes you sick, what do you use in your ice cream?

Re the roast. My mum is an expert at roasting meat. Or used to be; she doesn't do it very often anymore. There's only 3 of us, whereas once there was 4, and we don't eat as much we used to. On top of that my dad always whinges about how meat has no taste anymore if my mum serves up beef, lamb or pork and I think, rightfully, it just annoys my mum. So we tend to stick to 'safe' foods, like chicken, sausages, prawns or whatever - nothing that anybody can whinge about too much.

Well, poops to your Dad. Why not roast some meat for you and your Mum, and leave him to Marmite sandwiches or whatever?

That's frustrating, when the cooking times turn out to be wrong. That happens to me a lot, too, esp with new recipes. Doing it in the oven sounds a good idea, btw: less washing up, and less fuss with stirring and steaming etc etc etc.

No to knocking out a cupboard. That was the original idea, but it's the benches and cupboards the machine wouldn't fit, apparently. Dishes do take up a lot of time, though: I feel like I'm always doing or thinking about them.

Ice cream - coconut cream and soy milk . It doesn't turn out exactly like proper ice cream, but it works out a lot better than the soy substitutes we can buy in the shops here.

@ivy - Well, my mum thinks that roasted meat is better with large joints instead of tiny ones, and I'm inclined to agree with her. I don't really miss it that much anyway. I hate to sound like my dad, but I kinda think he has half a point about meat: quite often it does seem to be tasteless or tough. If I could be guaranteed sweet, tender medium-rare roast lamb or the equivalent with roast beef

Oh well, that was just awesome - the kitchen floor had flooded =/ Completely unnecessarily too! Long story short, my dad screwed up with the fridge. If he wasn't always faffing about and trying to be a cheapskate and changing suppliers to save a few pennies, the filters for the fridge wouldn't have failed and the kitchen wouldn't have flooded. My mum did the bulk of the work, but I did some of it. (I must be honest: I heard angry voices earlier but I didn't want to get involved. It was only when I heard my dad scream that I thought I had better check out what was happening... :-/)

I mean, in the general scheme of things, it's not a catastrophe, but clearing up a flooded kitchen at 2am isn't my idea of fun. It won't have done my mum's bad back any good whatsoever either.

@Becky - Those hours anger me somewhat. That's taking the ****. I would've thought a hospital would've always needed x-rays taking, so why the ridiculous schedule? Part time jobs are one thing, but that's just unbelievable.

Had to google Shamwow cloths, as I'd not heard of them. They seem like they're more for spills than actual floods, no matter how shallow... Anyhow, we did all right - just - with towels and kitchen paper.

*hears noise from downstairs* Oh please god, dad, don't wreck anything else... No, false alarm. It's okay. The house is still standing <_<.

Yeah, the antibiotics are helping, it is just taking a lot longer to clear than usual.  I don't think I got rid of the darn thing the first time.  I had an upper respiratory problem right after my second infusion and did 10 days of antibiotics and it seemed to clear.  Apparently not all the way. 

This time I was on my 9th day and called the DR back and said, hey, I'm not all the way better yet, will you call me in a refill of this scrip. 

They said that they WILL NOT do that.  To wait until I was all done, give it a day or 2 after that before calling us back. 

I said I am on remicade, we were possibly expecting this.  I can tell I am not better but not rid of it. I don't want to pay for another office visit just to get the antibiotics extended.  I KNOW WHATS GOING ON WITH MY BODY.

So sorry, call us friday if not better.

So friday I went back down there, and guess what?  I have something called, um what was it???? oh yeah, SINUS INFECTION!  What? No Really.  I thought that was what I had already and was on pills for.  Well yes, but we had to be sure.  NOW if not better after 5 days call us back.  I thought my ear was still infected due to the soreness in the ear and down into the throat.  The eustacian tube is now probably either irritated or the infection had moved as I get my head cleared.

See this whole time around, it was only in the maxilary sinuses, not all my sinuses as normal.

Soooooo, next time I go I will argue for longer than normal treatment so as to avoid this crap again. Or go back to my old doctor with the agreement that I can call for an extension rather than repeated office visits.

And wow to the rest of you.  Although I have to say I would rather deal with NCOT kitchen issue.  I am equipped to handle that stuff.
