no energy

hey i wondered if someone could help

i've just had a resection operation 10 days ago, and still have no energy as if the crohns is still active but its not...i was wondering if anyone new how long it will take for me to be my normal self and have energy and be able to do the things i used to?

Give your healing some time, 6-8 weeks minimum. You will slowly start to feel a little better each day. You have to understand that not only have you just had major surgery, but that your body was completely run down from the flare of crohn's you were having. I was diagnosed at 14 and the way that my dr described it to my mom was that my body wasn't absorbing the nutrients from the food I was eating so it was kinda like being starved to death. Your body slows way down to help conserve the energy you do have and try to heal your body. This is way over simplified, but you just need to give your body time to rest, heal and build itself back up. Just give it time.

Hi Bethany. Be patient sweetie. You just had major surgery - it's really a big deal! You had your insides re-arranged and cut up. It will take you a while to recover. 6-8 weeks is the normal time frame. Measure your progress every week, not every day or every few hours. It may feel like you have ups and downs, but just track every week, and you'll notice that every week you're a little bit better than the week before.

Hang in there. I hope you get to feeling like your normal self soon and you make great progress with no complications. And I wish you a very long lasting remission.
