Hi Everyone! I'm new here... I've read enough posts I thought I should join in :)
I was diagnosed with Crohn's Colitis last year. Have been on Asacol HD which worked like a charm for 3 months. Started a minor flare up a few weeks ago and also started using some other med samples since Asacol HD would now cost me $600 a month and I ran out of that. My doc gave me a 2 weeks supply of Asacol HD today but he also put me on prednisone, cipro, and flagyl for the flare.
Is there a reason I shouldn't wait to use the Asacol til after I'm done with the cipro/flagyl/pred? I was thinking maybe the others would calm down the flare and then the Asacol HD could keep it in remission... plus it would put off paying for more Asacol for two more weeks.
I am going to call the doctor in the morning but until then thought I would get some opinions. Thanks!

I am not sure what you should do but as far as the cost goes, take a look at this website:
http://www.altsampling.com/asacolactivate/
they offer assistance paying for Asacol HD.

The Pred/Cipro/Flagyl is to get your Crohns flare under control. YES, YES and YES get back onto the Asacol HD. That will be your maintenance med. You should always get on your maintenance med with whatever other med they are using to control a flare as the maintenance meds tend to take longer to kick in. Good luck~
