Very Confused about Labial Abscess = Fistula??

I developed an abscess on the lower part of my right labia majora close to the location of the Bartholin's Gland (however it is not a Bartholin's cyst, apparently). The abscess was punctured, and has been draining slowly, and I've noticed that leakage from the abscess corresponds directly with gastric movement. That is, when I feel gas in my system pass over a specific intestinal location, a jet of fluid is released from the abscess.

The discharge appears consistent with an abscess - pus and blood - however I can't shake the idea that it might be a fistula. I saw my GI about it, and he said it was "very unlikely" for a fistula to develop in that location, and my gynecologist thought it identical with other follicular abscesses she had seen.

I know this is a stretch, and maybe I am just paranoid, but nobody has been able to explain why an abscess would so directly correspond with gastric movement.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Or at the least, would anyone be able to offer me some words of comfort or strength?

I have a fistula (recto-vaginal) and the discharge almost immediately included stool, not just pus / blood. There was blood for one day only, then stool and mucus exclusively. (sorry to be graphic). I know that's not definitive, but just wanted to share my experience of fistula with you, it's a scary thing. I was diagnosed by a colonoscopy in which they shot water into the colon and watched it come out thru the fistula. I hope you find some answers soon, and heal up soon.

I would say that increasing the pressure in the area (such as 1 and 2)could discharge more pus/blood in my experience with skin abcesses in general area, but I also am very concerned about fistulas.

You could ask for a pelvic MRI which would probably show the fistula if you had one.  At the minimum, it would give you peace of mind.

I recently had an enlarged right labia, asked for an MRI, and it showed a fistula from my anal area (I have a jpouch) through the perineum.  The MRI did not show the abscess, but when I went to the surgeon, he found a 3 cm. abscess in the right labial area and lanced and drained it.  It still drains mostly blood/mucous now and then, but not a lot, and I don't see a correlation with jpouch activity.    I'm taking flagyl and levaquin now to keep things "at bay" until I go to the cleveland clinic in a couple weeks to see what they might be able to do for the fistula.

i realize this is an old thread but i'm hoping i could get other people's stories about this. i don't (think) i have Crohn's. i had biopsies with endoscopy and colonoscopy and everything was negative. i have been having a lot of inflammation in my mouth for about 3 months though, hence the testing.
anyway, i had what i and the gyno thought was a bartholin cyst. it swelled up and got pretty painful, then kind of deflated and stopped being so painful. but then i started passing gas and feces through. fistula. went for fistulogram and they couldn't find anything. perhaps because it's through the bartholin gland? i'm getting referred to a much larger university hospital system, so hopefully can get MRI - is this the best test for it?
also, anyone who's had a similar experience, did you have to have surgery? was it successful? what kind of dr addressed the problem?
my appointment isn't for another 6 days and i'm just trying to find out all the information i can since apparently this is pretty rare, and unfortunately i live in a small town and have to travel to find any decent doctors.
