I need to know if anyone has an idea of how long after you have had an illeostomy can you get it reversed. I have had mine for 11 yrs and am getting tired of looking at it.
If any one can help with their experiences I would appreciate it.

Kathie~welcome to the forum.
What was the reason for your ileostomy? You should be able to have an elective reversal by asking your surgeon. Your outcome post reversal will really depend on your body, disease and diet.
My surgical recovery post ileostomy reversal wasn't bad but when my disease took over my life again I was miserable. I had my first temporary ileo for 3 months before the reversal and that was to let my colon heal after complications.
You will want to check out the Ostomy Forum, too, there are many posters that have had reversals that can help with your question!
