Well, as of yesterday I wasn't feeling any better so my doctor admitted me to the hospital. I'm getting Flagyl, Levaquin, and they are going to start Prednisone here shortly (by IV) also morphine. I'm pretty worried because I have perianal crohn's and surgery will be extremely complicated (if possible). I have an internal fistula from small to large and a recto-vaginal fistula as well. Of course he's trying to get me better and avoid surgery or put it off as long as possible. He told me if they were to open me up now it would be so inflamed they probably wouldn't know where to begin. It was a year ago in November when I was last hospitalized for the same thing in the same area (thickening). I'm just really scared of what my future with Crohn's holds right now shakehead sad

I was admitted to the hospital yesterday for a blockage from an adhesion, so I'm a bit in the dumps too. But I had years of out of control CD until we finally got the damage from years of being untreated taken care of and found the right medications. Trust that your doctors will find the right fix for you and then you can have years of calm too.

I am so sorry you both are in the hospital! I dislike hospitals so much. My sympathies to you both.

Dana, I know you are frightened. Do you trust your GI? If you do, then I would follow his recommendations to get this flare under control. Fistulae are difficult and I don't have any personal experience with them.

I hope the prednisone gets the inflammation under control and you get some relief SOON! Keep in touch!

I hope the hospital stay helps a lot.

I think it's perfectly sensible for you to feel scared.

Don't know about you but it's tough to see myself as a strong, self-reliant, independent and relatively healthy person when I am laying around in a hospital bed stuck full of IV's and dopey on pain meds.

But I expect that is what you have been for a long time and will be again once you're past this rough patch.

It's the waiting that's the hardest I think. Waiting to heal, waiting to see if the meds will work, waiting for the nurse to take me potty, waiting for the doctors to do their rounds...lots of waiting.

I sure hope you have something to take your mind off all that stuff and give you some laughs. For me it's Calvin and Hobbes. I never go to the hospital without Calvin along in my bag.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. And to Zanne, I so hope you get better fast, being in the hospital is no fun. Plus not having any food grrrrr... at least we have pain meds to keep us comfortable :) It helps me with the belly grumbles and pain too. I'll keep you all posted. He may put me on TPN in the next couple of days if I don't improve significantly, the ice chips and water just aren't cutting it really. Thanks again for the positive thoughts and prayers, they are much appreciated.
