So I was prescribed 30 mg or predisolne last week to take and reduce over a 6 week period, along with a nightly shot of colifoam. This in in addition to 4mg of pentasa each day.

Well the last 2 nights have been awful. I have been vomiting, getting no sleeping and in and out to bathroom, about 12 times in 2.5 hours last night.

I believe the cause of this to be the predisonlne, has anyone else had side effects like this? I have taken it some time ago but never suffered like this. I have not taken any today for fear of being ill again, as I am having to miss work.

I have had Chrons for 12 years.

I never vomited because of prednisone. I had a lot of energy so I barely slept but not because I was in and out of the bathroom.

My experience with prednisone - on and off a number of times over 22 years - is that I feel better and have an large appetite faster than my body has actually healed. So I would eat too much or too much of the wrong stuff that disagrees with me and vomit because of that. When this has happened, it is usually around day 2-4, happens once or twice, then I am past it. More recently, I'm aware of this situation in me, and I try to stay lower residue diet & food volume for a little longer than my steriod pumped body is demanding.

DO NOT STOP YOUR PREDNISONE!!! You could have adrenal problems stopping like that. Prednisone is a med that must be tapered off of. This could cause life threatening issues for you. So please do not just stop it.

I agree with the above, I do not believe the Prednisone is causing the nausea, although I am sure it is the culprit in your insomnia. I think I tend to agree with Clonehead in that maybe you are eating alot while on the Pred and that is causing your nausea issues. If you aren't eating a ton, then it could be one of the other meds such as Pentasa causing your nausea.

Hey there,

My hubby has had Crohn's for 34 years now and been on prednisone several times.  He never had N/V however, did have the increased energy, difficult time sleeping and of course the moon face. 

He is starting on Prednisone today for his Crohn's and a severe inflammatory reaction in his right foot that we have been Doctoring with for 3 weeks now. 

I wish you the best with your Crohn's and as you can see this forum is very popular with many wonderful members.

i went mental on it..so needless to say i am not taking it anymore,. but don't stop with out your dr's ok. he/she will want to reduce your amount slowly

Some people get all the bad side effects and some get minimal to none. It's such a great drug but it's unfortunate that some people can't tolerate the side effects.

I have not heard of vomiting with Predisone?? The body requires 7.5 of Predisone if your adrenals are asleep..I would suggest tapering before just stopping that, and I wonder if it is a reaction with another med? I was put on 40 mgs when I first went on it, and I don't remember being even sick to my stomach.

I have not heard of vomiting with Pred either but agree with Gail... Do not stop without your dr. That is very dangerous. Hope you feel better soon. Hugs.

Sorry you're going through this, but I agree with the above. Stopping it cold turkey is very dangerous. I didn't have any of those side effects your spoke of either, but everyone is different. I so hope you get relief soon.
