Hello all,
Well I finally had my colonoscopy on Thursday morning after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease on December 15th 2010 and am pretty bummed by the results. First of all I did not know that a person gets a ton of gas after the procedure. When my gastroenterologist told me that I would be out of it after the procedure I asked her if she could write down what she found so I would know for myself and she did not. She talked to both my husband and I when I was out of it right after the procedure and it was not until hours later at home when I finally came to that my husband told me what she found. She wrote a prescription for 20mg of Prednisone (which was super cheap with insurance) and 800mg of Asacol (that is $400.00) to help with the severe inflammation for a month. My husband told me that she found I had many ulcers in my small intestine and a little bit of scarring. She took several biopsies to find out what type of Cohn’s I have and I will not know anything else until the middle of March when she comes back from vacation.
I really did not let myself think too much about this until today because there was nothing I could do about it before. I eat right, drink water, and even started taking prenatal pills which really seem to help with the exhaustion. I have had all the blood tests done and they have all come back normal when I am having such a terrible flare. I guess I am just angry that I had to get the news second hand from my husband and not my doctor even though I was there when she told him she knew I was out of it. I am still in shock I think and just reeling from it all. Anyways thanks for listening to me rant I know my condition is not as bad as others and I should be grateful for that I am just not there yet.
