Hi Everyone!
I thought I would share what happened at a Dr's appt last week. I traveled over 200 miles one way over many mtn passes to go to a huge hospital where I see my rheumy. I also made an appt at the hand clinic due to a contacture and nodule on my right hand.
So I was told by my rheumy that because I am now showing no inflammation, that he wants to take me off Remicade which I have been on for 3 years. He seemed mad and irritated at me like I was a waste of his time. I'm in the process of finding a new GI so as of now, I'm off Remicade, but still on Imuran 100mg daily. So, I agree hoping I don't need Remicade, and scared to death I'll get really sick again. I think it's too soon to tell if it is a good or bad idea. No social comments like "how was your drive?" "how have you been feeling"? Nothing.
So next I go to the hand clinic. I first see a know-it-all young MD who wants to go over every single othopedic injury and surgery I've had in detail. (And there have been a lot due to ski racing, training and showing and breaking horses, and motorcycle mishaps. All in the past thanks to crohn's) So after almost 2 hours the main doc comes in and starts to examine my hand. He then yawns really loud, no excuse me or anything. Then another really loud yawn, and I watch his chin sink to his chest and yes folks he was ASLEEP. He was still holding my hand and asleep! The other MD loudly asks him a question and he wakes up but seems some what confused. It was at that point I almost suffocated from keeping from laughing. Are you kidding me? He fell asleep??????
Needless to say I left, drove six hours back over the mountains home and am DONE with the big fancy hospital. Best part of the trip was I saw a mountain lion on my way home. It was as tall as the hood of my car! Beautiful animal!
Thought you all might enjoy the story! Take care, coldestspot
