One time episode of blood (Crohn's Colitis)

I have Crohn's Colitis, which has been kept in remission for the past year with Humira and a change in diet and holistic medicine. Last week I went to the bathroom and the toilet paper had a lot of bright red blood on it. I was nervous (since I have had so many flares before) and expected it to happen again but the next time I went to the bathroom there was nothing and it hasn't happened since. No pain, no cramps, and i don't think the blood was in the stool, just on the tp.

Has this every happened to anyone?

Yes, when my hemorrhoids bleed I get bright red blood on the toilet tissue.

it was a lot though, like a period (sorry Ides, I don't know if you are male or female :) Even 2 hours later there was nothing, not even a spot - could something have burst? Do internal fissures bleed?

I am female. I had a hemorrhoid bleed so much once that it literally was dripping down my leg. Yes, it is a whopper of a hemorrhoid.

Fissures also bleed but if you had one I think you would know. When I had fissures, having a BM felt like I was pooping glass or razor blades. The pain was horrible. Also, when I had fissures the blood coated the outside of my stool.

Do you have hemorrhoids on the outside? Do you have them internally? I'm not trying to sell you on the hemorrhoid cause of your problem, but it is the most common. Also, since it was an isolated instance and you have had no other problems, it points to something like a hemorrhoid.

Perhaps you should ask your doctor to check things out.

Yes...I have crohn's colitis as well and before I started taking bee propolis I too would get blood on either a regular basis or here and there type of basis, it's normal for crohn's colitis, just keep an eye on things and if it progresses then call your GI...good luck! PS You don't necessarily have to have a fissure or a hemmie in order to have blood from the anus especially when you have crohn's colitis...it's quite a bit more common to bleed when you have crohn's colitis compared to when CD is affecting the small intestine.

I had a really bad bleed 5 years ago. It came from way up in (by the TI), and was actually bright red blood. They explained to me that it was rushing out of me so fast that it never had time to turn dark! However my bleeding went on and on. I was hospitalized, and they had to go in by scope to close up this awful ulceration that I had. I'd keep an eye out on things, but I think it's a good sign that it stopped!

I agree with all the above especially the "roids". In addition I had this happen to me when I ate something bad (sesame candies).
