Well done, and even managing to post. I know after my surgeries I didn't feel up to doing anything!!

Thanks for letting us know how you are doing! Be sure to stay on top of the pain, its harder to control if you let it get out of control. Big hugs and be gentle with yourself. Hope this surgery leads to a long long remission for you!

hey john, did they ng tube you? great job. you sound like tough guy. when I had all my surgeries, I never wanted any visitors. way to much pain and pain med's would keep me pretty much out of it. I didn't want to talk to anybody. Not until my last 1-2 days would I let people visit. then i wasn't on pain shots. walk walk walk, cough, cough, and cough some more, get that anastesia out of your lungs.

Nanners you are right on about the pain control and keeping on top of it. They made me get out of bed and that was a nine on the pain scale. They upped the pain killer dosage and I've been on top of it ever since. I just got back from doing a few laps around the hallways and although painful it felt good to get up and out. They upped the roid dosage which had my heart racing for a bit. They certainly don't hold back on loading me with all sorts of drugs.

Hi AG, what's a ng tube? They had a tube down my throat for surgery but that's it. I'm a bit iffy on having visitors as well. I'm not exactly fresh at the moment but my brothers bringing the baby wipes it's a good trade. : )

You're going to be set in that hospital. Can you imagine if you could really take the Xbox? That'd be pretty awesome! Hope your surgery goes well :-)

Well got out in hallway and walked again. Found out that I had to put the cathedor back in since I had trouble peeing on my own. Let me tell you that was no fun and a bit humiliating. Good times : (

Hey, it's good to hear you're doing so well after surgery. I'm very glad you are on top of the pain and able to walk around - from what I hear, walking around really helps with recovery. I'm sure everything will get back to normal in time.

Hang in there! Hopefully you'll get home soon and feeling tons better.

I'm so gald you are doing so well after your surgery. I hope you are on your way to a long remission (me too, I hope!).

Hope you get to come home soon, and when you do come home, make sure you have someone with you in the house when you shower. Its amazing how tiring showering is after surgery. I had to have my husband finish drying me off because I was just too tired, then I climbed right back into bed. But it was soooooo good to be clean.

OMG I remember the showers too. The first one at home, my hubby actually got in the shower with me, as I just didn't have the energy to even wash. Hope you continue to improve daily JAB. Good for you walking the halls. I had a hard time with that my first resection, of course I had an infection in my incision, and that really sapped any energy I had. But I would push myself to at least walk a little. Wasn't doing laps like you, but would go out a little. But when I got home (lived in a large apt complex) I would walk around the apartments and then started lapping them after awhile. Keep up the good work!

Ditto on the showers. I only had one the first week, another during the second, and my hubby helped me too. He helped me sponge bathe a few times, too, and made me a foot bath, which was so nice.

Settle for sticking my head under the faucet but just the warm water is a treat. I'm sitting near the window right now soaking up the sun and that's pretty special too. Gonna get back in the hallway shortly. Still haven't passed gas yet but I'll get there when I get there right? My staples are sore and god forbid I have to climb a single stair right now. On a side note I've had a persistent pain agitation on my lower right back just under the rib cage which doesn't go away. I mentioned it a couple times prior to the surgery. I don't know what body part is there but it's kn my backside, doesn't radiate to the front. It makes me a bit nervous since it's pretty constant. I guess I should bring it up and not just chalk it up to some other ailment. Thoughts? When I came in initially for the abscess they did ct scan and my understanding is that they look everything over in the scan so if it was something worth remarking they would have.

One of the surgical team members just came in and I explained it to him. He said that yes the scans are finely reviewed but to keep him posted. So we'll see.

Well I was released from the hospital yesterday after being there for a full week. They had me walking the very next day after surgery. Now I'm getting about pretty well. I have a lovely incision from my sternum to several inches past the belly button. Surgeons were happy with the healing process. Ti was removed along with a couple fistulas and a foot of sb. Only one resection. Still some pain of course but now I have to work on the weight loss. Still concerned about pain under right ribcage but I'll address that at a later date. Doctors and surgeons made no effort to address this even tho I was a broken record about it. I understand to an extent since I was there for something else but hey if ya got the hood up might as well check the whole engine right?

Anyway, glad to be home and I look forward to recovering every day. Thank you all for your prayers and best wishes.

Yeah!!!! Glad to hear you have made it home. Now be gentle with yourself and rest as needed. Don't go getting all crazy. I hope you continue to improve every day! Hugs!

I vaguely remember having a pain close to where you're having yours. I was told it was muscle damage
following surgery, and given time it would heal. It did, but as I remember it was kinda the last pain to go!
I'm not surprised we hurt all over the place after surgery, with all the pulling and tugging that goes on, plus
the fact they usually have most of your bowel out of you so they can get a good look. Pretty gruesome really

I hope it's just after surgery type thing, and not your gall bladder. mine were so long ago, I don't remember aches and pains, unless they were huge, but that persistent pain is definatly worth keeping mental note of.

I'm 5 weeks post op. I had lots of right sided pain beside my incision (still have some milder pain), which the surgeon said was muscular since there was quite of bit of pulling and tugging in that area.

Glad you're home now and take it easy!
