This may be TMI, so reader be warned: ;)

This afternoon I had a really bad attack. Definitely one of the worst I've had in awhile where I didn't think I'd make it to the bathroom. After going, I noticed that the diarrhea/stool was floating, and looked very oily. There was a sizeable blood clot in one stool, and the whole thing smelled horribly. I've read this type of bm is called steatorrhea. I don't have a gallbladder (was removed 2 yrs ago) and I know the absence of a gallbladder can cause this, but can Crohn's or IBS?

Floating stools generally mean that you have malabsorption. And floating stools have alot of gas associated with them too. I know you have been having alot of diarrhea, so I am not surprised this happening to you. Have you eaten any greasy foods lately? That can cause it too.

If the blood is a new symptom I would bring that to your doctors attention. Good luck!

No greasy food. I've actually been sick with bronchitis for the past week, so I haven't eaten much of anything. I did have a small gluten free pizza last night, but I regularly eat those, and don't have that reaction. I'm hoping if I do have malabsorption that means the doc will find something during the colonoscopy on Tuesday, give me meds, and I can start trying to heal.
