CVS gave me wrong script !

My dr refilled my flagyl script, so I raced down to CVS to pick it up.  Noticed on the outside envelope that all my info was there and checked to see how many days it was for (10).  Raced back home and immediately took one and proceeded to put the rest in my "old lady" pill reminder thing.  Only had enough for a week so then I looked at the actual bottle and it saw that it was for someone else !!  I panicked, since I had already popped one, but luckily it was for flagyl also.  When I went back to CVS to inform them of their error, they were like ' no harm, no foul, it was for the same medicine ' They just blew me off. I couldn't believe it.  Anyway, now I need to find another pharm.  Lesson learned - always look at the actual bottle before you leave the pharm.

No harm no foul, no flipping way! I actually changed from CVS for a similar problem. They filled a script for prednisone that was suppose to be for percocet. It was written for "every 4 hours as needed". When I noticed that the script was for the wrong med, the pharmacist said, "ya, I thought that dosage was wrong for prednisone". Well then you should have checked with the doctor.

I think I would be moving up the managerial food chain if I were you until I got an actual apology. Just because I like to make trouble.

you can report them to the state board of pharmacy. as a pharmacist, that is a serious error

That's HORRIBLE! I would defintely go up the food chain and complain to management. If it hadn't been for the same med, it could have been dangerous.

You're right. I'm going to call the corporate office on Monday.  I don't think there's any point in wasting my time with the store, if they didn't care when it happened, they're not going to care now. Funny too, I just got an automated message from them saying my prescription was ready. I don't have any outstanding scripts there now. It's probably the script for the other guy's meds!

That is so maddening! This is probably not their first mistake so the pharmacist was trying to brush it off. My best friend has been a pharmacist for about 10 years. In all that time she has made almost no mistakes, but she is human so stuff does happen. The one time I can think of that she made a mistake that was pretty serious, she felt so awful. They caught it in time so no serious harm was done, but she actually wrote the guy a letter to apologize (with the companies permission) because she felt so bad. I think most people would feel bad and be apologetic unless they are making a lot of mistakes and then they are defensive or don't care.

They also violated confidentiality. You had a bottle with someone else's contact information on it. Did that other person get your bottle?

Just because it was a rather common med used to treat multiple conditions does not make it OK. What if you had been given your neighbor's AIDs medication or your kid's teacher's Herpes meds? What if your pain meds and contact info were accidentally given to someone with a drug problem? Medication can say a lot about a person some of which they might not want known.

Please go as high up with this as you can.
