I was diagnosed with Chrons when I was 8 yoa. I had a bowel resection at 9 and was meds free for 25 years. I had a bowel blockage a few years ago and was told I should go on all of these meds.... I opt to try for another 25 years of minor problems rather than go on the poison they wanted me to take that ultimately would have hurt my liver. I understand that I am one of the lucky ones. I am very thankful for that.  Good Luck Everyone!!! yeah

just so you guys know it's spelled crohn's. it validates you alittle if you spell it properly, don't mean to hurt feelings.

Hey I once had a 20 year remission myself med free. I wish you good luck as my remission ended just the same way yours did with surgery, emergency in my case. I was told after that surgery I no longer needed meds, so I didn't take them, ended up with another resection only 3 years later. So I will take my meds from now on, I don't want to end up feeling as bad as I did again, or to wind up with short bowel syndrome.

I am maintained with the mildest med out there Asacol, I will never go med free again. I hope you don't have the same experience as I did and have to have a repeat surgery in a few years. But I think we will see you back here again, feeling bad, and wondering why you didn't prevent any further damage when you could. Good luck and JMHO!
