Update to last weekend's Pico Salax cleanout

His PEG3350 (that he's been on every single day for the past 4 years) has now been doubled in dose, so he's on 2 doses per day of 17g peg mixed with 8oz of liquid, on the advice of his GI Dr, to see if things start moving.  Plus, on Monday and Tuesday next week we have to repeat the Pico Salax both days, and if that doesn't get him squeaky clean, he'll be admitted to hospital (not sure if here in Manitoba, or in Toronto at Sick kids where the GI is) for a cleanout via NG tube.  I am both disappointed and upset that the cleanout last weekend didn't work, it was very hard on him as it was me.  I don't know what will happen in the near future, but he's a tough cookie and doesn't complain.

Last night, his belly was quite distended, and now (because of the increased peg) he's leaking stool a whole lot.  Not fun.

I just wanted to say thank you for any and all advice you gave me, and to let you know what the results were.

Well, I just thought I'd let you know that he had the second attempt (both yesterday and today) at a cleanout and it was unsuccessful.  His little bum is so red and sore though, from having stool sitting in his pull up against his skin.  I've actually put him in underwear with a maxi pad in it, hoping it somehow helps and is enough to catch the smears he has.

I put a call in to our GI nurse at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto and she'll likely call back tomorrow with the next step.  I already know what it's going to be though, an NG tube and GoLytely.  And it too, won't work.  It didn't a year ago and it probably won't this time. 

It would be nice if they could figure it out, they need to figure it out.  He can't start healing until we have a dignosis, a treatment and a plan.
