Newbie looking for answers!

Hello All,

     I've been having "potty problems" for a couple years now, finally broke down and went to the doctor almost two months ago and was semi diagnosed with Crohn's.  I had a colonoscopy, upper GI, and blood work done.  As far as I know colonoscopy was the only test that came back with Crohn's.  My doctor is so slow at getting back with me!  I'm new to the idea of having Crohn's and just wondering how the medication, remission and everything work.  I'm going to work on an assembly line in a month and am worried I won't be able to do it because I won't be able to use the restroom whenever I need to.  My problems aren't extremely severe, I don't have the horrible pain everybody talks about (or I have just become used to it) I just have diarrhea everyday at the worst possible times, and have been controling it by not eating and taking many, many imodiums!  Any help, advice or just encouraging words would be greatly appreciated, Thank You!

I agree with Kazbern, have you been put on any medications yet? Have you been scheduled for a follow up appointment? There are many medications out there. Some of us are able to control our symptoms on one medication, others need multiple medications. Once you find the right one(s) for you, your symptoms should be greatly reduced our eliminated. You also need to figure out the right diet for YOU. We are all different and can tolerate different diets and at different stages of our disease our diet might need to be adjusted. If you are flaring you might need to go to a really bland, soft diet, but once things are under control you should be able to eat a more normal diet, while avoiding the foods that really bother you. A food diary should help you figure this out, just keep track of what you eat and how you feel afterward.

But most importantly is to find some sort of maintenance medication that can get you into remission and then you should be well on your way to feeling better.
