Hi, my condition has deteriorated lately. I have been taken to the er on sunday because of low blood pressure 80/50, then 90/60. I was given three litres of iv fluids and still my pressure dropped again so they decided to admit me to hospital especially that i was vomiting, had diarrhea and had stomachache. Many tests were carried out and they discovered that the neutrophils were 92 which indicates a severe infection. I was released yesterday evening and my doc prescribed me ceftriaxone 1 g iv/12 hr for a week, tavanic 500 tablets for 2 weeks, nexium iv for my stomach for a week , anti-vomiting tablets, pentasa enema twice per day, 2.5 mg solupred (as i'm tapering it), 175 mg azathioprine, and an oral rehydration solution.
]My question is: has anyone expreienced high neutophils (92%) like that? 5 months ago, i discovered elevated neutrophils 84, 83 and 90, respectively and i took a bunch of antibiotics. I stayed 4 months taking these antibiotics as every time they didn't go down and finally, they became normal again.
The problem now is that abdominal pain has become extremely severe after i began ceftriaxone. Is there a relationship? I refused taking it at hospital but my doc insisted on giving it it me. Does this mean a new flare up?
My doc asked for some tests to be done after I finish the antibiotics: CBC, calprotectin in stool, urine and stool analysis. When I commented that every time, most of the time the results of these test were negative, he answered that this time will be positive. Do the neutophils indicate the place of infection and that it is in my bowel? Thanx
