Hi there

I am new to this forum but have been reading the threads for about a week now and am thrilled there is such a huge amount of information being placed on here. It really helps to know you are not alone with crohns disease.

I was diagnosed 2 years ago but my treatment has been mis managed by various people including myself. I have had flare ups which have just been treated by my GP through prednisolone and mesalazine. I became really ill over Xmas (seems to be a trigger for me) and I was admitted to hospital from A & E. I was in for two weeks and after trying hydrocortisone steroids I was put forward for Infliximab. I yesterday had my third dose so my loading doses are now complete.

I was also told to start to reintroduce fibre into my diet on Friday.

I feel good apart from a dull ache in my stomach which is worse when Im sat down. Could this be the medication Im on (a whole host including pred, omeprazole, buscopan, azathioprine - or could it be the fibre.

Would love to hear from anyone else with this experience.

It's hard to tell from what little information we have and that none of us are doctors. I would think the easiest thing to do to test this would be to go off fiber for a week and see if that is better. If it improves, try introducing fiber again in 1-2 weeks and see if the aching symptoms returns (to make sure the timing of the improvement wasn't a coincidence.) If it happens again, it is worth mentioning to your doctor.

Thanks for your reply. I've come off the fiber and the paid eased. I think I got a little too excited about the thought of eating salad again! Does anyone have any tips for the introduction of fiber into their diet again - are there any obvious rules and things not to eat straight away.

Fiber can be really hard on our systems. My GI told me that if I ever add fiber into my diet it should be done VERY slowly. Never take what it says on the bottles, but to slowly work your way up to the recommended dosage. Hope that helps.
