New job offer... to take or not to take?

So I've been with my current employer for almost 2 years.

They've been very understand about my illness, and when I need to call in.

Well the past couple of weeks, my hours got cut. I went from workinf 36-40 hours a week to maybe 15.

I've been doing a little job searching and was recently offered a job doing pretty much what I do now. The pay only slightly better, it's father away, BUT they offer health benefits.

I'm just worried if I accept the new job and get sick and have to call in, they won't be as understanding. I told them about my illness during the interview. To be honest I don't think they had a clue what Crohn's is.

What should I do??

Do you like your current job?

Why were your hours cut and is this permanent or temporary cut?

Do you have health insurance in your current job? (that can make total compensation at new company better than "slightly better" if your current employer doesn't have this benefit.)

Your new job offers health benefits that your current job does not. Your current job drastically cut your hours, who knows what more they will cut including your position. In this economy you don't know what can happen. You were honest with your new employer about your health issues, there is little more you can say. This seems like a no-brainer.

I understand about being comfortable in your current position. But when I look back at my 40 years of employment my most rewarding decisions occurred when I was comfortable in my current job but decided to go for new opportunity. I never regretted it.

Agreed! Take the job.

I've been asking for more work and a raise at my current job for over 2 years now. When my boss told me that I miss too much work (which I don't) and that he wasn't sure what exactly my role at the office was, I started looking for a new job. Sure, they let me take all the time I need for my appointments but then use it against me later it seems.

Anyway, I found another job and the guy hiring me seemed really excited. Then I found out I was pregnant (am pregnant!). I didn't want to risk the pregnancy with the stress of a new job so I turned it down, but as soon as my mat leave is over (oh I hope this pregnancy goes well!!) I'll be calling them up!
