crohns disease veteran

Im 49yrs old, I was diagnose with CD when I was 34 after I came home froe mv Desert Storm I've had a total collectomy and spent a couple months in the hospital, I havent had

any relasp. but I have had alot of blockages. My doctors told me I didnt have much time

left after my first surgery, they where way wrong. What is the life expectancy and I have a

feeling it will be painfull, I have been cliniclly dead for 2 minutes during each of my surgerys.

There is no less of a life expectancy for Crohns then not having crohns disease. I dont know why your doctors would ever tell you you don't have much longer. People don't die from Crohns disease, they die from complications of crohns disease. I hope this helps put your mind at ease and takes some stress of of you.

Hi Mronlyone and welcome to Healingwell. I second what Dawg said and thank you for your service.

I have had the disease nearly 36 yrs myself and can assure you that Crohns Disease is not a death sentence. Sure some have passed due to complications of the disease, but that is fairly rare.
