I have posted previously about DH and his struggle with Crohn's and abdominal fistulas. He now has pre-cancerous tissue around fistula openings and his surgeon has said that tissue should be removed and the fistulas repaired...even though after his last surgery, doc said he really didn't want to go "in there" again. We saw GI and he will do a sigmoidoscopy on Thursday and see what that tells us. I don't know that DH will have surgery. Last resection, he was hospitalized for 7 miserable weeks. Threw an embolism and spent a week in ICU. GI says he may be looking at short bowel syndrome and artificial feedings if additional surgery is undertaken. DH has talked about staying the course, (if you can call it that!), living with the fistulas and having the tissue biopsied regularly. I know DH is unique, but has anyone ever been down this road? We are both so weary of this battle...Crohn's has stolen so much from us.
