can any one tell me if they find with the puri-nethol

when they go out in the sun that they get very bad

reddness in there face is that reaction with that tablet

I'm pretty sure that when you're taking purinethol you should avoid sun exposure due to an increased risk of sunburn and skin cancer. At least that's what my GI told me.

I just checked a bunch of websites, which confirm that people on purinethol (6MP) may have heightened sensitivity to the sun. They recommend that you always wear sunscreen--but they also say that, to avoid exposure to more chemicals, you should look for a sunscreen that is called "natural" or "sensitive" or something like that.

I do know that people on purinethol have a much, much higher rate of skin cancers than people not on that drug (or other immunosuppressants like it). Make sure to see a dermatologist at least once a year to get a full-body screening for any skin cancers. It could save your life.

This article will confirm the link between immunosuppressants (like purinethol) and skin cancer. It states that the risk of skin cancers rises three times (!) in people taking these drugs:

I got sun poison while taking 6mp(Purinethol) and I had sun block on. =( I was in the sun for about 6 hours and applied sundblock continuously as it says but I still got burned badly on my back and shoulders. It made me feel horrible all over, after a visit to my doctor he said that I had sun poison. It was a long 2 weeks without a shirt on. I was 17 at the time. Please be very careful on this medication in the sun.
