I had a large amount of Crohns disease last year and the surgeons had to remove my entire colon leaving me with an illeostomy. I am now looking at the chance of an illeostomy reversal and want to know the implications of this such as how many bowel movements I would have, whether people are able to hold on throughout the day and night, any pain involved and other issues.
I have been told by my doctor that as I have no colon remaining it is more difficult to get back to normal functioning of the bowel and am hoping there are others out there that have had this experience and are able to offer advise.
I am only 25 years old and really dont want to have to live with the bag for the rest of my life but I also dont want to have the reversal and find life is more difficult than it is now.
Any information, advise or comments would be greatly appreciatted.
