Pushing shopping carts

And here I thought it was just me. I come home and my husband asks" was that a 2 poop or a 3 poop trip?

I tend to head straight to the bathroom most of the time before I even get a cart.  I also try to go to supermarkets with clean bathrooms only.  It is funny.  I never worry about if I will make it to the bathroom or if in that moment are the rooms clean.  My worries are...will somone take my shopping cart away?

One thing you can try if you are flaring really bad is to have home delivery of your groceries.  My wife and I do this on occasion.  We use Fresh Direct or sometimes a local place that delivers to our area. 

Yep me too!! I am supposedly considered in remission, questioning it a bit of late, but it could be alot of stress too.

But every single time I have to go grocery shopping, or into Walmart, or whatever store, its like I walk into the store and bowels decide, okay bathroom time.

Now I am not picky on my bathrooms. I prefer a cleaner bathroom, but when I gotta go, I gotta go. Haha.. Hugs!

Same problem every time. Grocery store or Walmart. If I go out to eat, I have to be someplace that is only 15 minutes from home. Limits me a lot since I live in central NH with not too many people. Also, there are a lot of things I can't do. I have always wanted to take the boat tour of Scram Lake (where On Golden Pond Was Filmed), but can't because it's a little boat with no bathroom. Can't do the Mt. Washington car climb either. Just too depressing sometimes.

I hate going anywhere because as soon as I get in the car, it hits me and shopping is horrible.

picking up heavy grocerys has actually caused me to partially obstruct in the past so now my hubby comes with me if it is a 'big' shop. annoying as I used to take my elderly mum shopping once a week and now I am more debilitated than her!

Vacumming and getting overheated in the car are other triggers that puff me up and can cause problems.

I guess it is a particular issue for those of us with stricturing?

It happens to me also. But, my sister suffers with same affliction and she has no belly problems,
same thing happens when she does the dishes or boil the kettle. No joke, she really has to go :)

Me too. I will be feeling OK thinking, I can do this and after 5-10 minutes of grabbing a cart and walking through my local walmart I suddenly don't feel so good. Dizzy and rolling guts and its always when I am at the opposite end of the store from the bathrooms. You would think I would learn and hang out on the bathroom end of the store first. It is just that I feel so well before and it comes on soon. I was even thinking maybe there was something in the environment at walmart because that's where it happens to me the most. I think for me, I get a little bit of anxiety which helps this along.

Me too. Grocery or Walmart, I am in the bathroom too many times. It's just a fact of life for us, I guess. I've thought of using the electric scooters in the past, but I was too embarrassed so I sucked it up and asked a buggy boy to help me push the full cart out of the store to my vehicle. I only asked for help when I was obstructed or really ill, and I tipped 'em too. ;-)

I try to do my shopping when my bowels aren't spasming, but sometimes pushing those heavy carts sets them off, doesn't it? It's probably why I generally do as little shopping as possible.

Don't you just hate it when you hear healthy ppl say they refuse to use public bathrooms? If only we had that choice.

It's those darn cart wheels I tell you . They are made by the same co. that makes the hospital carts . Just put an expectant mother on one of those hospital carts and push her down the hall. All four wheels start that wobbly sound , woogady , woogady , woogady and in no time ,,, baby is out. Same thing happens in the grocery store except we are expecting another lityle bundle of joy and , well , you guessed it , the cart wheels always deliver . Now , wheres the diaper bag ?

I'm lucky as in UK we have most supermarkets that do online shopping and delivery service. So always do my grocery shopping online and have it delivered at a time I choose and the cost is only £3 which it what I would spend in petrol anyway and saves me the time and hassle of fighting my way around with the trolley.

Even though I have an ileostomy and have done for 20 years this online facility comes in very helpful, especially as I had bad flare recently and couldn't go away from bathroom for more than 30 mins as I was having to empty the bag that often. Now the flare is in remission I have come off the pred and joints have completely seized and have sciatica so again the delivery service is brilliant.

Do you not have anything like that over there that would make it easier.

You are definitely not alone! Most people can tell you where all the good food joints are... I can tell you where all the good and bad bathrooms are!!
