Hello, I have Crohn's and had my first surgery last December.  Prior to surgery I was on Pentasa, but my doc now has me on Cimzia.  I have been getting some joint pain in my knees, ankles and elbows, but what is really concerning me is the weight gain.  I have been gaining an average of 3 lbs. per injection.  My doc said he hasn't heard of this being related to Cimzia, anyone else have this problem? sad

Are you feeling better? Is it possible that's what is causing the weight gain. Meaning your crohn's is settling down? I know they say Remicade and Humira don't cause weight gain either, however, I gained weight and I know others have said the same.

I was on Cimzia for several years and gained about 35 lbs. I dont know if I can blame the Cimzia though. I agree with Crohn'snme, it could be from feeling better since Cimzia did well for me while I was taking it. Anyway, I have been off it now for several months but no weight loss yet, so I can't blame Cimzia for the gain...

Thank you for your response, I am feeling better, in some ways. Now I am having joint pain, and other minor pains. I plan on talking to my doctor during my next appt. As for the weight gain, it was so sudden, immediately after the injections, and now after each injection I gain an average of 3 lbs. Not sure how much more I can gain, I'm not even 5 feet tall!! I guess we have to deal other effects if it means feeling better!
