Just bones or something else?

Do we have 2 bones on our lower back? I recently have felt two bones or knots on either side of my spine each directly above respective butt cheek. I got concerned that I might have an abscess, but my boyfriend thinks it is because recently I have become so thin I am feeling bones I didn't notice before. I can't feel any bones on his lower back.

They don't hurt and I don't have a fever, just weird I have never felt them before.
