Newbie

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Amy, I am just looking into information on Crohns.
Im editing this, I thought maybe I should share some information about me.
I had the gastric bypass almost 3 years ago. about 2.5 years ago I started having issues, bowel obstruction, and pain, ooooh pain every time I use the bathroom, when I go that is, sometimes its one a week, mostly its every 7 to 12 days. And I spend an entire day in the bathroom, nauseated, vomiting having pain, fever, blood pressure drops, and BMs. I have other symptoms too... Nothing makes it better, the pain is completely unbearable, and just this week, the "episode" caused me to faint, hit my head, and have a seizure. I'm looking for help, information, whatever I can do. Most doctors keep sending me back to the doctor who did my gastric bypass, even though theres nothing wrong with my stomach. I have several family members with Crohn's and they keep telling me that is probably what I have. I am in Minnesota, and have been trying to get in at the Mayo, but my insurance wont pay. So... as you can see, I am frustrated, tired, angry, and so many other things....

So Peppers, are you saying that you have a bowel movement once a week or maybe once in 12 days? That seems like a problem all by itself. I'm not very familiar with digestive issues following gastric bypass - is this what you should expect in terms of frequency?

Your regular doctor can do some basic testing - bloodwork to look for inflammatory markers, stool samples to look for occult blood. I'm sorry your insurance company is resisting Mayo, but if there are basic signs of inflammatory disease maybe they'll be more interested in supporting your plan to go to Mayo.
