I am currentlly on Humira, but was on Imuran for quite a some time. I have had shingles twice already due to decreased immune system. Recently, I developed a rash that started on my arms and is now around my midsection (belt line). I suspect it is shingles again due to the Humira, but how can you tell if it is shingles and not poison ivy?

We do not have any pets and as far as I know, I have not been around poison ivy. I have never had poison ivy in my life, but have had shingles twice.

poison ivy or poison oak, when you come in contact that is where it affects you, so if you touch something, then your hands or arms. not like shingles, where it can affect you on stomach or sometimes near spine

Poison ivy itches like the dickens. Like an itch you've never ever felt before in your life.
When I had shingles the primary sensation I can remember was hurting, then itching.
What's confusing to me is that the rash appeared on your arms first. I thought shingles starts at the spine and moves outward, not the other way around.

Sounds to me like a trip to the doctor is in order.
Best wishes,
Ivy
