Jeez, Archie, that's a really harsh response. Have a little empathy! Most of us at this forum have had accidents. And not usually because we've made a "stupid decision."
It's hard to think logically when you're desperately trying to control your bowels--and control seems to become more difficult as you start to experience the emotional and physical relief of approaching the bathroom door (before you find that it's locked, of course). She probably would have had an accident if she'd run outside, too--and the search for a dumpster or a well-placed bit of shrubbery would probably have taken as long as her search for a Walgreen's employee.
For most of us, dropping our pants, squatting, and spraying poop all over the ground in the Walgreen's parking lot would be at least as humiliating as having an accident inside the store.
She just wanted to vent, in a place where she could find sympathetic people who've been through something similar. But she sure as heck hasn't gotten any sympathy from you, has she?
So here's some sympathy from me: Cupcakes, I'm sorry you had such a crummy experience today. I've only had a few accidents in my years with Crohn's, but each one of them has been humiliating. When you're feeling stronger emotionally, maybe you can go back to Walgreen's and talk calmly with the manager, asking him/her why it's necessary to keep the bathroom locked. Even if they feel that they can't unlock it, maybe you can get a dialogue started that will illuminate both of you.
I hope that your week improves tomorrow. I'm sure that it will. You deserve it!
