Colonoscopy Pain Afterward's

Hi all i didn't know extactally where to put this but i know a few of you guy's would have had one done.

Anyway's i had my colonoscopy done about 36 hr's ago give or a take a few hour's, they took a few biopsy's but said everything was normal.

The next day i passed a little blood with my stool but that has cleared up but i have a little pain in my lower right abdomen nothing that has me creased over just like a twingey pain which has been with me since yesterday of waking up.

Is that normal could i just be a little sore?

Could be normal.  I had a flex Sig scope on Monday and I am not completely normal yet from it.  Also, a colonoscopy can upset and disease you have. (Not sure what your diagnosis is).  I know I have gone into mini flares after a colonoscopy because of the stress it puts on the body.

I would say take it easy and don't worry so much about it.  If you still have pain in the next day or two, contact your dr and let him know.  He might want to do a follow up to make sure everything is ok.

I took me about 4 days to get back to normal after my scope. I didn't go to the toilet for about a week after all that prep!! I had some colicky pains which I think were trapped wind as they put a lot of air into your colon and not all of it is let out at the end of the procedure.
Passing a small amount of blood after the colonoscopy is normal if you have had biopsies taken.

Yeah thank's for you reply's... I just get worried easily since they took biopsy's the blood has seemed to have stopped but i am having very loose stool's.

I spoke to my doctor over the phone and he explained that the mild discomfort could last for a few day's... So i'll try not to worry much and hopefully it will fade.

It only really hurt's when i am up and moving and it does not hurt when i press down on the area where i am getting the pain.

I bleed for days after wards,,and some pain.. loose stools are normal afterwards too.. Keep an eye on it, and if yous still feel yucky after this week, i would give yer dr another ring.

I always am really crampy for days afterwards. My docs scope skills suck and I always get hellacious hemmoroids after he does them. I have decided next time one is done, I will have another doc do it. Hugs!

Thank's again for the reply's if anything seroius was happening the pain would have been alot worse by now 48hr's?... Very Anxious person as you can see :(! Which i think is causing me to sweat and feel light headed :/

Ok just a little update stomach still isn't right and getting weird pain's all over... Went to Hospital and they did a chest xray and explained that if the bowel had perfed then the trapped air would show up on the xray, nothing showed (thank god) however still getting weird pain's :(...

Went to the doctor's a few days ago and explained my problem's and he said that he think's the bowel has gone in some kinda spasm gave me some medication (Merbentyl) but it's not worked one bit.

It's been 10 day's now since i got scoped so i don't know what's going on :(, can it take this long for my bowel to get back to normal?

Ten days seems excessive for the kind of pain and discomfort you're in. I usually bounce back pretty quickly after a colonoscopy, but, after my last one, I had cramping/achiness for three or four days before it finally disappeared. You may have to get in touch with the doctor again to explain that the Merbentyl hasn't worked and that you're still uncomfortable, post-procedure. It helps to give medical staff and/or physicians a "pain number" (on a scale of zero to ten, with ten being hideous, unbearable pain), to give them some objective idea of what you're feeling. I hope that either that the pain goes away within the next 24 hours or that somebody can diagnose what's going on with you. Either way, good luck!

Thank's for the reply i would put the pain in a 4 it's not unbearable and can get on with what i have to do. The pain inself come's and goes it's not there permantly either.

It is correct that if they was a bowel perf it would show on a chest xray yeah? and the pain would be alot more intense... and surely it would have been noticed by now 10 day's?

I'll get myself back to the doctor's tomorrow again and see what he say's.

I would consider myself a veteran of colonoscopy's and i have to say what you're going through does not sound normal to me. If i ever had any discomfort from the procedure it lasted until the end of that same day. The only discomfort I've ever had was from the air being trapped and then as soon as i fart it out, all is good. ;)

It sounds like you're on top of it so I'd just keep that up until you find the issue. Be a pain in the doctors ass if you have to.

Well went to the docotr's today and he checked me out, temp was fine checked my stomach said it's a little tender but nothing to worry about... Listened to my bowel's with a stethoscope and said they were gurggling.

So he's come to the conclusion that the 1st doc i seen, he said it's one of 2 thing's either my bowel is still recovering from the laxitive's and procedure or it's the original thing the reason they put the cam there i had mucus and blood in my stool... The scope come back normal however they took routine biopsy's... So he said it could possibly be IBS.

He gave me some new tablet's called Mebeverine took one before and it seem's to have settled the gurggling so hopefully these will work.

Well 5 week's later and i still have that pain and it only began after the colonoscopy... I don't know if it was a coincidence that i got the pain afterward's.

However i have found that after i pass windor sometime's when i pass a stool the pain ease's for a few hour's... Could it be possible trapped wind that is causing the apin :S?
