Taper Pred, Imuran? and a Tear Duct

Ok,

Just thought I would run this by you guys.

Been trying to get off pred for the last 4 years, normaly I hit the 10mg wall and the GI puts me back on Pred.

This year he is trying to insulate the pred tapering by introducing Imuran 50 mg a day.

So I stay at 17.5 mg Pred for I month while the Imuran is working, I was told it could take up to 2 months for it to work by the Gi.

Then the 2nd month drop 2.5 mg pred every 2 weeks. till your off, basicly.

There was a question about using entocort, but he decided to go imuran fisrt.

My question, does this sound about normal for everyone?

Weird thing, this week I felt good enough to finaly have my inflamed right eye looked at. Waters all the time, bulges out. pressure.

The optomotrist told me my lower teard duct was gone, I guess the medical term is blocked.

He just kinda blamed it on possilbe relation to the crohns inflamation

Anyway, there ya are, question about imuran and weird tear duct thing. other then that, I hope and wish the besy for all of you.

I actually dont feel to bad this week, other then the bleeding :)

Hi Blue...can't speak about the imuran (other than I have heard good things)
The tear duct issue I have had too. No one ever really knew what was the cause. I always suspected Cd related inflammation too. What did the eye doc give you (oh and although it is the pot calling the kettle black....you really shouldn't wait to get your eyes cared for! ).
I can't remember what the eye doc gave me for mine. I just remember putting warm, moist clothes on my eye to relieve some of the issues.

I'm on imuran and also had both tear ducts clogged, had to have them reemed out, is what I called it. I t hurt. the novacaine the dr had to inject around my eye to do this prodecure hurt, and he had to kind of cut it, it took 2 seperate procedures. def. cd. related. for me anyway.
