Hi, I am new to the forum and don't know where else to turn.... My mother is 64 and was diagnosed with PG at the beginning of the year. She has a secondary breast cancer in the lining of the lung although we have been informed that this is stable. My mothers ulcers were terrible and although they are healing, she has extreme fatigue whereby she can no longer walk up her stairs any longer and has had a stairlift fitted. She doesn't particularly feel tired and want to sleep, but just exhausted at the least thing - dressing/washing etc. everything is an effort and she has to really push herself. She is almost house-bound. Her breathing is quite bad also and was recently given an inhaler - not much help to be honest.
She was prescribed prednisole and was initially on 20mg per day although that has been reduced to 15 or 10. We don't know if it's the steroids side-effects or the PG??
The doctors don't know why she feels this way and suggest that the steroids are usually given to people who need more energy. They dismiss that the steroids can make you feel this way although i have read a lot that suggests otherwise.
If anyone can shed any light on this condition and has experienced similar symptoms, I would be most grateful to know. also, how long might she feel like this. She said she can't really go on feeling like this anymore. Her quality of life is almost non existent.
Thank you.
