I have had a very rapid pulse my whole life (ranging from 95 and up to 110ish at times)  I was wondering if it may be linked or maybe from some of the meds.  My doctors dont think anything of it unless I am hospitalized then I get all those fun lil stickers and wires to monitor my heart.  Heart disease does run in my fam (my dad had a heart attack at 49 his older brother 5 months prior and their dad had a few).  I do also have a very mild murmur (only heard at rest and the EKG person could barely find it)

was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

I do. My resting pulse sits around 100. They note it when I'm in the hospital. But no-one seems
worried about it...

I have currently been having problems with a fast pulse as well. In the past it's been chalked up to dehydration and drug withdrawal, but it looks like the cause right now may be from adrenal suppression.

I have a high pulse as well, in the same range you do. When I was going into surgery for fistulas and abscesses my heart rate was at about 140 but I was also in a lot of pain and nervous because it was the first time with general anesthesia. That was the only time I was told something about the pulse rate. But other than that time, noone ever seems worried about it either. They see that I have a good blood pressure about 118/73 and they don't say a word about my pulse. But I have no clue what is causing it

I have very low blood pressure and high pulse, not a great combo but always like it whether I'm well or not. Not a problem except when I come round from an op and find I am wired up to ECG as they also can't seem to decide if I have irregular heartbeat occasionally as well. Never seems to cause any problems but can send student nurses and drs running to get someone senior, which can be amusing.

I also gave a low bp and high pulse. I have had and EKG and do also have a heart murmur. After a lot of tests and seeing a cardiologist I was told it was pain and dehydration.

My pulse has always been high. The only time doctors have said something is when it goes over 140, which is usually in the ER. Pain definitely increases mine, and in the ER it's kinda a good thing because I don't show pain externally and that shows the doctors that something is wrong. As soon as they give me pain meds, it returns to about 100.

My blood pressure used to be low, but it's fairly normal now, around 115/75.

I also have a higher pulse. Like you, My doctors don't seem too worried about it, but when I go into the hospital I always get attached to the tele, which is quiet annoying.

Now I have a rapid irregular heartrate. What "I" suffer from is called atrial fibrillation and will soon be put on coumadin as protectant because mine is so fast and irregular. But mine is much higher than yours. A sitting heartrate right now is anywhere from 120 to 160. Mine happens when I throw up violently, which happened when I was hospitalized this past July. They got it controlled in the hospital and it has since returned. We don't know why.

If your docs are not concerned with it, I really wouldn't worry about it. You had a doc appt today, did he/she say anything about it?

I've also had tachycardia for years and am taking a beta-blocker to keep it nice and slow.

It is possible to develop heart disease if your heart rate is high all the time for a long time. If it goes on for a long time or if it's uncomfortable, it's probably a good idea to see a cardiologist to make sure the ticker isn't being affected.

Hi All

I too have a fast pulse...about 108 is average...my dr mentions it now and then but nothing past that...someone told me that short people have a faster pulse...well, I am only 5 1...anyone else heard that?
