Post resection and bladder issues???

I got a UTI right after my resection, probably from the catheter. With that said, I've had more UTI's after the initial one too. I used to get UTI's as a young person but I had surgery and they fixed it. Could something have happened during the surgery? I was cut from right above the naval all the way down. The area right above the bladder was the last part to stop being sore after the surgery too. It took a long time. The thought of more invasive tests up another orifice does not make me happy. Anything like this happen to anyone else? Thanks-:)

It did not happen to me, but they said that a UTI was a risk.

I did have an odd, and unexpected (for me) result of passing gas a couple of times with my urine while at the hospital. I told the nurse, and they said you can get air in there...if it were to continue (thank God it didn't!) or if there was a discoloration/red/pink color (thank God there wasn't) then they would have to explore the possibility of damage done to the bladder during surgery or some problem from having a catheter.

Thanks clonehead I am going to make an apt with my gyn to explore these issues. Something isn't quite right. Thanks again for your response!!!!
