Never thought would be back

I used to ba member here a long time ago.......I have had a wonderful 4 years since my surgery in 2007 for my CD. They removed 18 inches of small and large and I was good to go! Well a few weeks back I had that pain again and I thought Oh no here we go again because they said I had a 50% chance of getting it back in 5 years. Now I just started a new job in the middle of August and that flare just kinda went away......Well Tuesday night I was getting changed and noticed I was bloated, no biggie because the pain in my side must be a cyst on my ovary right .......ummmmmm no, Iwoke up yesterday in such pain that when I got out of bed I thought I was gonna fall over .......so I took myself to the dr who sent me right to the ER.....Blood work showed nothing, cat scan showed a bulge in my surgery area........So they send me home with those dang CD drug scripts and tell me to call GI for appt......I saw GI today who believes that I know have adhesions in the intestine at the surgery site. Oh yeah for me So now I am on sulfasalazine and folic acid with no insurance and he wants me to get a small bowel follow thru and another colonoscopy. I am on a low residue, low fiber diet because he doesn't want me perforating my bowel......So now suddenly I am thrown back into this dang disease and it looks like it is worse than before

You have to count yourself lucky that you had a 4 year break. Crohn's came back on site within months of my resection :( the ER drs also thought it was a cyst in my ovary that keeps popping but turned out that my ileum is inflammed at the suture point. BUT, back in remission without having another surgery, so its a plus! for every step back, you'll take 4 steps forward. dont stress yourself out. it is a forever disease. we just need to put him to sleep to get some rest.

So for the past 4 years or so you have been medicine free?? Sadly that was your first mistake if that is true. I was told after my first resection that I no longer needed maintenance meds, well that ended with me needing another resection only 3 years later and taking a longtime to get my disease back under control. I recommend this time you stay on your meds. That are many more members on this very forum that have learned that same lesson the hard way. And I will tell you I will never be med free again.

I am healing from a recent flare myself so I know how much of a downer it is to be sick again. I flared again this time becuz of alot of stress at work and with family. Vent away with us we do understand. And hang in there hopefully things will quiet down quickly for you. Hugs!

Do they think it is active disease, obstructions, or some combination of both? It could be possible that the disease itself is not back, but that some combination of surgical side effects (obstruction, narrow bowel, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, etc) is giving you some of your symptoms??

Nanners...yes that was my mistake and a very huge one, unfortunately I lost my insurance and couldn't take meds. So I am now back on them 3 times a day.

Sniper, I know, maybe if i did stop in and give support of others while feeling good this wouldn't have happened lol .

Clone head, I saw my dr the day after I posted and he believes Ihave adhesions in the intestine at the surgery site...he said I need to be very careful with what I eat as to not perforate the bowel...needless to say I am very scared to eat. He will do his best to keep me out of the operating room
