OK so this is trivial in the scheme of things. I am coming up on 6 months post-op (10/12). I STILL have a small worm-like tunnel just below my belly button. It is the remnants of a hematoma that my surgeon popped a few staples open for on my 3rd day post-op. It was 2 inches long and tunneled north and south an inch each way. Now it is a skinny 1.7cm tunnel that a long swab stick barely fits into (used to stuff the dressing in by my saint of a husband).
I have made too many friend with the wound care staff (haha) so I was going to see my surgeon on Oct. 14. They just called and rescheduled me for tomorrow (which is GOOD news). I am just worried that it will heal over at the skin level and leave a cavity ripe for another abscess. Thus the surgical appointment. Wound care says they might do a CT to see what it actually looks like at this point. (Since it is a pinhole, it's impossible to see what it looks like). The positive side of me says, well it is getting skinnier and possibly shorter, altho it's hard to tell, also no real drainage, so no sign of infection. The negative side of me say there is probably a cavity down there just waiting to become an abscess.
Since I have successfully weaned off prednisone and Humira (pre-surgery), and flagyl (post surgery), I really just want this whole thing to go away so I can enjoy a remission!
OK done whining now, I know it's trivial. But I could use some positive thoughts!
