I think I agree with ivy: now is not the time to be going on drastic diets. If it's water retention you should find it melts away quite quickly once you're better and more able to do physical activity. Also, I dunno what your current calorie intake is, but reducing it by too much can have a rebound effect, in that your body gets used to the lower amount and maintains on that in the future. (It's apparently reversible by, somewhat counterintuitively, raising your calorie level but you probably don't want to get to that point.)
