Disability Lawyers

Hello Everybody. I have a couple of questions maybe some of you can help me out. I applied for SS Disability and got rejected. They told me one I was not sick enough (Ha Ha, 9 open wounds of my stomach, food coming out them and my bladder fistula) and two I am still working. They said I need to be out of work for two to three months. How would they like to pay my bills for those months. All my money I have goes to keeping my house going and my medical bills. Me and my wife live paycheck to paycheck. Question 1. Do these Disability lawyers really work. ( 25 percent of what they get from point of you leaving work and they collect and nothing after) 2. When you got money was it enough to live on. 3. How in medical coverage. 4. Did you get food coverage. 5. When did you tell your work. At this point of my disease, my doctor and surgery told me to get out of work and go enjoy life because at my pace I am living I am taking years off my life. They raised some of my meds (Pain pills) to make me "Comfortable" and will write any letters needed to get me out of work. Good Luck, Mr.D

There are two types of disability offered through the Social Security Administration. SSI in Supplemental Security Income. It is paid to those with disabilities that have limited incomes. SSDI is Social Security Disability Insurance. People that have owrked enough quartes are eligble for this. SSDI amounts depend on your earnings in the past. If you look at your last Last year you should have received a social security statement that listed all your earnings. There is a line on it that tells you the amount you would receive should you become disabled. If you have not worked enough quarters, then you would be applying under SSI. That amount is pretty low and also is effected by other income, including your wife's income.

Medical coverage under SSDI and SSI takes effect twenty four months after you are awarded disability. That is when you can apply for Medicare. In the interium, you could you use COBRA coverage from your last place of employment, be covered under your wife's place of employment, or purchase your own coverage. In most cases, purchasing your own plan is very expensive and hard to get when one has a chronic condition.
