I had an appointment at the hospital today with my consultant.
For the past couple of months ive had a lump growing in my belly button and it was definately confirmed today as a Umbilical Hernia, the pain has been horrible and at times unbearable.
My surgeon has said that I need to have surgery as this hernia will only get worse, but he said the operation wont be simple as keyhole surgery due to me having Crohns can someone tell me why thats the case?
He has said that he will book me an appointment to have an MRI scan first, this is to check my insides and too make sure that the bowel thats poking through my belly button does not have crohns attached to it, if it hasnt the surgeon said that he can remove this part of the bowel. (When I was in hospital last year I had a Laparotomy which involved the surgeon removing a part of my bowel that was causing an obstruction, however while I was under the knife and being operated on the bowel somehow rectified itself and the part of the bowel that was supposed to have been removed wasnt, I later had a secondary infection which had to be sorted out)
Im confused as I dont understand why having Crohns and an Umbilical Hernia can be so complicated?
I have looked on the internet but cant find anything but instead found this site.
