So, ive noticed that people on this board are very knowledgable so I am hoping you can help me with a question. about
10 months ago I started getting a sore throat. Got an upper scope and was diagnosed with Gastritis and Larangopharangeal Reflux and started on some strong PPIs. Then about
3 months ago, I started getting some pretty unpleasent pain/cramping about
2 inches below my naval. Also some discomfort in by back on the lower left side. My GI did bloodwork and it came back normal. It continued to bother me, so he did an upper abdominal ultrasound and an abdominal MRI with contrast (guessing that it was a small bowel follow through?). These were all normal too.
My symptoms are abdominal pain in the middle about 2 inches below abdomen, lower left side back discomfort, and throat reflux. I usually have well formed stools (although sometimes loose) and only occasionally get diahrrea. No blood or black stools. It seems like the lower abdominal pain is sometimes releived by eating, and sometimes by drinking beer (although that may just be the buzz, lol).
I am wondering if I should just chalk this up to IBS since all my tests were negative. Should I continue investigating IBD? Could it be some sort of bacterial overgrowth (I have heard this can happen with PPIs, which I was on a very high dose of)? Duodenal ulcer? What do you guys think? Thanks!
