Hey guys this is my first time here, I have Crohn's & had it for the past 16 years without much time in remission at all. My GP has put me back onto prednisone been taking 50mg daily for the past 2 days. Since this afternoon my blood pressure has become quite high & the prednisone doesn't seem to be helping what so ever with this flare up, the diarrhea is still present with constant pain my GP also has me on 6MP have been on that for the past 5 years. Question .. is it time to go to Hospital ? cry

If you are feeling that bad, then yes go to the ER. Although they may just end up giving you pain meds and something to lower the BP. If not feeling that bad, then contact your doc and discuss how high your bp is going and the continued pain. Hugs!

Hi Goldcoaster,
Welcome to the forum:) One of the side effects of pred is high blood pressure. So, if you have BP, how can your doc prescribe it? I do second Nanners that you should call your doc to discuss the BP. But, if he knows these side effects and knows how to control them while your taking pred, it's ok. But I was just want to tell you that it took me 11 days until pred kicked in. So, I think 2 days is too fast to evaluate the effectiveness of a drug.

I had high BP and thyroid issues when I started on Predisone..The doctor gave me 25mg on Atenlol, which brought my blood pressure back in check..Some people have problems with high blood sugar as well..Mine was low to begin with so no problems there! I was started on 40mg back then and was on steriod/antibiotic shots once a week on top of it..I felt better immediately with my bowel symptoms..I was just an insomniac with mood swings..
