CT Results - Need Help

 

Just got my cat scan results back.

Abdomen

lung bases - unremarkable

liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen unremarkable

adrenal glans - unremarkable

Pelvis

appendix - unremarkable

bladder - unremarkable

There is mild nonspecfic thinkening of the sigmoid colon.

Final Diagnosis - Colitis

Can i possible have crohns or uc.   Doctor walked in told me i had colitis and left room within 2 mins.   Nurse came back with perscription for  cipro and flagyl.

What is non specific thinkening of the sigmoid colon?

 

There is some thickening of the colon wall - whether due to scarring or inflammation its hard to say but since the itis of colitis indicates inflammation at least at some point in time. It would seem if it was currently inflammation that would have been indicated. The cause of the thickening is most likely unknown at this point altho the "colitis" he was referring to may or may not be Ulcerative Colitis.

Keep in mind the next time you run into one of these "two minute wunderkinds" that YOU are paying HIM/HER, whether thru insurance or out of pocket is immaterial, YOU are paying HIM/HER. Therefore, he/she is your employEE and you are his/her employER. You are paying for his/her expertise and knowledge and it is up to him/her to share that information w/you.

So - the next time one of the "two minute wunderkinds" turns his/her back on you and starts to walk out a good firm, loud enugh to be clearly heard, utterance of his/her name ... Dr So and So! ... is in order and speak up. Ask for clarification. Ask about whatever it is you want to know or do not understand.
