My GI prescribed Dicetel for spasms. I will also continue taking imodium and cholestyramine.
Anyone have experience to share?

The generic name is Pinaverium. Looks as though it's used for IBS. Anyone try it for bowel spasms?

Sorry never had that one I have used Bentyl and levsin (aka Hyomax is the generic) that plus at times percoset seem to help me some days I need tylenol or nothing for my discomfort some days 1-3 hyomax (the bentyl didnt work well for me) and some days I need to add pain meds in the mix hopefully this works for you. The Questran didnt do much for me glad it is helping you out I do have lomotil (use to take double doses of imodium per my surgeons request when I had my ostomy or I never stayed hydrated) since my resection tho I try not to take the lomotil unless absolutly needed sometimes even tho I have D after my gut feels C wonder if the same would happen with imodium for me might have to try that again.

Never heard of it either. I use either Levsin or Librax for my spasms. Bentyl doesn't work well for me either. Good luck!

I did a search on HW and found it mostly discussed in the IBS forum. I might try there, even though I won't get all the CD info I'd like. There's some info on google, I think this is a fairly new med.
So far it's a "gastrointestinal calcium antagonist. This medication is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It helps relieve the symptoms of abdominal pain, bowel disturbances, and intestinal discomfort. It acts by relaxing the smooth muscle of the bowel."

Would like to know more about possible side effects. I'm supposed to take it with food or it can cause nausea, heartburn, etc.

PB4, I happened to find an old thread of yours discussing this med for your daughter. Do you remember how it went?

She tried it for a little bit but said it made her constipated, they played around with the dosage but she still had issues...to confirm, it is used to treat IBS, but like with everything else, what works for some doesn't work for all. Likely wouldn't hurt to give it a try, once it's out of your system, things will go back to the way they were.

Oh, I'm afraid of constipation. I only had that problem in my third trimester. Can't win or lose, eh?

LOL, I just realised that I opened my response to "Nanners" instead of you Roni, forgive me, my head is in another dimension thanks to my 21 yr old daughter (long story)...anyhow, no problem, just keep in mind that it won't necessarily cause constipation for you, that was just the issue my daughter (same daughter pissing us off right now) had with it....definitely inquire at the IBS forum about dicetel to get a larger and more informative response.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! and I'll leave it at that cuz I don't want to scare you about how stressful it is when your baby becomes and adult, which I have learned through experiance is a lot scarier then any other age they are (oops I may have said too much already LOL)!
