When I was first told that I probably had Crohn's I was told to go on a low residue diet. When I did a google search and learned what was accaeptable and what was not. By time I finished reading I was laughing so hard I had pain in my sides. Without ever knowing what low residue meant, I had naturally put myself on that diet. There were probably only one or two things on the do not eat list that I would sometimes eat, like broccoli. But even with that, I only ate the leafy tops or florets and not the fiber filled stalks.
Just do a google search for low residue diet and you'll find lots of losts of acceptable foods. Substitute gluten free products or eliminate the gluten packed & dairy items abd you'll be set.
My GI wants me on the Specific Carb Diet. That's a really tough one though. No grains, starches or sugars at all. I can't picture myself managing to stay on it for long, but I'm considering giving it a try after the holidays. I know I'll never make it on that diet until then. I just can't give up all the usual holiday goodies which would include even little things like gravies and the important things like potatoes.
Except for the periodic flares, I usually do fairly well on low residue. I hope it helps.
