Generic Entocort vs Brand Name Entocort

My recent MRI test shows that I am in a flare.  grrrrrrrrrrrr??

I started generic Entocort 3 months ago and feel this is what has caused the flare.  In addition the z-pac that was necessary due to an abscessed tooth.

Going to switch back to non-generic Entocort to see if that helps clear up the flare.  I am also urinating a lot?  Did UTI test, negative.  Is the increase in urination due to the flare or could it be the Entocort?  How is that tested?

You know Nancy I have read of others having alot of issues with the new generic too. I bet its some kind of filler in it not agreeing with you. Hopefully going on to the brand name will help more. I tend to pee more on Pred, so thats a possibility with the Entocort too. Hope you get feeling better soon. Hugs!

I started the brand entocort two weeks ago (it hasn't kicked in yet:(). My doc when prescribed it kept insisting that I have to take the brand one and I had to ask a friend it to get it from another country. I remember that a lot of fellow Crohnies have posted that the generic entocort has given them hard time and initiated a flare up. Why don't you call your doc and ask him to switch you to the brand one?

Well...I feel better already just reading your replies to my post ;-)

There is such red tape when filling a script w/non-generic meds when a generic is available. price is thru the roof! have the paperwork initaited w/my doc's office so hopefully will p/u today. in the meantime we're doing a blood test to check hemoglobin AIC. the frequent urination is coming from something - menopause?

Keep us posted NancyP. I am fighting Iron Deficiency Anemia myself, so hope thats not in the cards for you too. Hugs!
