I went to the ER about
5 years ago with intense pain (which had been going on for days) in my LRQ. I told the ER doc that it felt like my right ovary had just exploded. She sent me up to get a non contrast cat scan because she was convinced that the only thing that could be giving me pain that intense would be kidney stones. After the scan came back negative, and the bloodwork was also negative for kidney she wrote out a prescript
ion for ultram (which I never took) and told me to follow up with my regular doctor.
IF she had used contrast, both a swallow and IV they would have seen that my intestines were thickened and in awful shape. I left there and went on from one dr to the next checking for all sorts of things. Most were negative. It wasn't for several years when this pain came back with a vengeance (it was a very narrow stricture in my TI) that I went back to the ER thankfully had another Doc there and he did the double contrast and saw what was going on. I was admitted and the rest is history. Colonoscopy and pathology confirmed Crohn's. I thought about
suing that first doctor.
