Was on a short trip with family to visit friends last saturday. By the time I got there, I started feeling bad. Woke up during nught with sever chills and had to take a HOT shower. Anyway, Sunday we came home. By Monday am I was worse, so My wife called my GP. we lucked out as she had a cancelation if we could ge there in 30 mins. we did. Meanwhile, I was running a 102.9 fevef, caughing, body felt like a truck ran over it. Also BP was sky high and my heart rate was running in the 140s. My Dr walk in the room, listens to my chest and says I probably have phenomia and i was going to hospital for a few days. I was not well enough to fully grasp what she wsa saying, but she was so concerned, she called an ambulance, call the er and told them I was coming and to get me n antibiodics and admit me. Her Dr group is owned by the hospital so she can do things like this. Anyway, I have been on three different intrvenious antibiodics around the clock.
Here is what I learned from the doctors for those of us on the biologics. Our imune system is so compromised that Phenomia can spread into things far worse quickly. they do not take chances. Phenomia is bad and recovery for us on these drugs is slow. But it can be worse.
Anyway, just wanted to share withever my current predicament. The interesting thing is I had my annual TB and chest xray on late friday. I was to swing by the GI's office tuesday for them to review the TB. They called while I was in the er wanting to know why I had not come by. Mhy wife told them and the seemed a little surprised. Tuesday AM the PA for my GI stoped by to check on my and says yeah the spots on my lungs were there on their xray, but no one had read the xray yet, since it was rutine....I wonder if we could have prevented this a little. needless to say, he said they were stopping all meds for now to let me focus on this problem first. I will follow up with them in a few weeks.
I hope to go home tomorrow afternoon, but the heart DR was just in here and he was changes some meds and said they might need to watch me a little longer...I will udpate you guys later.
Crohn's sucks...
