Remicade..double dose.

I never got stomach pain from Remicade even when I was on 10mg/kg every 6 weeks. We didn't have any problems getting my insurance to approve that dose. Good luck with it all.

I dont know what to do about this stomach pain. Everytime i eat its excruciating now. My stomach is tender to the touch and movement more than it was before. Nothing about this disease is easy.

@dawg - that post made me smile esp the end! Thank you! No I'm not being pre-medicated or anything during the infusions. I think I was already nauseous that morning, and I did take a zofran before I went, and it didn't help things. I had been having pain and didn't sleep at all the night before which didn't help. The infusion before that I fell asleep during and wish this past one would have been the same. They don't give me the option of where to go to get it done, or I would because the nurse that is there doesn't give me much confidence in her, and she has up to 4 people in there at a time running, and she didn't know much about the remicade that she's giving...like that nausea is a side effect. She told me people don't usually get that and was looking on the drug phamplet. I haven't seen much in the office although I'm sure they have the stuff there if someone has a reaction to the remicade. How do you know if you are a candidate for a reaction to remicade?... Right after she pulls the IV out of my arm they send me home. I know reactions can happen and I was surprised to hear they have people hang out an hour or so after their infusion and check on them. I did sign up for the remistart, I mailed the form in a little while ago. My doctor I think bumped me up to the dose because I was going back to where I started and still losing weight that I don't have the room to lose... I'm already very, very weak. I lost 30 lbs with this flare and he saw I lost a couple more pounds both appointments before my infusion last week and I'm pretty sure that he did not like that at all and thats why he did it. Thank you for the tip on the coke too! I definitely will try that if I get nauseous again! I'm hoping I don't have to be put in the hospital though before the 8 week mark because I needed the infusion and the insurance wouldn't approve it... that's what I'm scared of. I'm getting tired of ups and downs... I need a more level path soon so I can get back to work and school.

Yeah i read that and plan on staying on it as long as it works and nothing is going wrong with the infusions and whatnot. 6 months is such a long time to wait to me ugh. I hope im well enough soon to return to work and get back to life. Being weak and sick is driving me nuts.

Is stellara that psoriasis med they advertise on tv? Or is it a different drug? I hope its working well for you and helps for a long time. Is it scary being on a trial drug?

People keep telling me its been too long and im not getting better. Ive had a couple people say that i should get a 2nd opinion. Its been since november that they started to treat me. Is this a short/long/average time?... How long should i wait to think about a 2nd opinion? I do like my doctor, hes made me feel good about him caring for me and the group hes with. I dont want to go doctor to doctor. That does not help you get good care i think.. I do want to get better as quick as possible.

I just got my first double dose of remicade on Tuesday. I did notice more energy a couple of days after and although still have multiple bowl movements (dia with some blood and formed) my pain everyday seems to get a little less. I did still wake up once last night to use the bathroom but I used it three times. Back to back to back. I think that the Remicade dose is finally working. I think I had 4 5mg infusions before this but I got C.Diff in April and was out all month. So I think that I am still recovering from that. today and yesterday evening though I am tired again. I still weigh nothing, 125 for 5"7 female, I like to be at 140. I can feel my spine in my back. They are talking about surgery if this doesn't work. honestly, I would love for this to just be over for a while. but from what my doc said I would lose my whole colon and rectum and have to where a poo bag. I have heard mixed reviews but I don't want that. I just want to get better and be able to have the children me and my man want. It is so frustrating. Also, anyone experience night sweats with remicade? It might be the prednisone. But I told my doc about it due to the day of the double dose I woke up and my clothes were soaked. Then the next night was a little better then I haven't had it since. She is testing me for all sorts of infections now.
